Marijuana Cooking

Basic Marijuana Butter Recipe
Cannabis butter is one of the best ways to add some medication to the foods you are creating. In order to work, a double boiler that allows the mixture to heat to at least 200 degrees Fahrenheit. This must be prolonged so that the mixture changes from the acidic state it is in and crosses over into a substance that can be used. It is important that you avoid overheating the mixture, as this can cause the cannabinoids to burn off. This would leave you with a mixture that you might otherwise have no benefit from and end up with a powerful medicinal tool.
When it is cooked, you can use this cannabis infused butter in most products that require butter. Note, if you plan on pan frying an item you may not want to use the butter. This substance is great for those who aren’t comfortable with smoking, or those who aren’t able to keep other forms of cannabis down.
The standard mixture of ingredients for this butter is a pound of butter combined with a cup of water and an ounce of ground cannabis flower. Keep in mind that if you find that you are struggling with the intensity of this mixture, you can always back off the dosage. Some people will need more or less, depending on their unique medical needs.
If you plan on making this the traditional method on the stove, you combine your water and butter into a stock pot. Allow this mixture to slowly melt over a low heat setting. This should be warm enough that is makes a solid liquid, but doesn’t cause the butter to burn. When this is done, you can add in your ground cannabis and allow the mixture to sit there for 2 hours, as you stir occasionally. Make sure the mixture never boils, or you’ll ruin the batch. This means you need to actively watch it and if you feel it is getting too hot, remove it from the heat for a minute or two and stir. When it is done, you can remove it from the stove after this time and allow it to cool and solidify.
The best way to allow it to cool is to place it in a refrigerator safe container. Use a small cheese cloth and strain out any remaining plant pieces from the butter. You can then discard the plant and leave the infused content to enjoy. You’ll want to keep this mixture in the fridge for at least 12 hours before you try to use it. When it has set, it might be firmer than normal butter. In order to use it, never microwave it to warm it back up. Instead, allow it to reach room temperature outside of the fridge.
While the cooling method remains the same over all the different methods of preparing the butter, you do have other preparation methods. A slow cooker for example is another way to handle this. Simply turn the slow cooker onto the lowest setting it has. Then allow the water and butter to slowly melt into the pot then add an ounce and a half of ground cannabis flower. You can allow this to simmer anywhere from 8 to 24 hours. Just keep in mind you do need to stir occasionally and the longer it sets during the first 24 hours, the more potent it becomes.
Sometimes in baking and cooking, you do want to have an alternative option for cooking. In these cases, a cannabis infused olive is a better choice. The process to make this is very similar to the butter or budder recipe listed above. In this case, you take three and a half cups of olive oil and about an ounce of finely ground marijuana. You begin by placing the olive oil into a sauce pan and heating it to medium heat, without it ever getting to the point of boiling. When it is warm, add your marijuana powder into the oil. Allow this to simmer, but not boil. If you see tiny bubbles appear in the oil, lower the heat and remove it from the heat. This prevents you from losing THC, CBD, and other essentials that contribute to improved health. Do this for about an hour. Allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes, then take a cheese cloth to strain the mixture into a container. Once you’re done, you can shake this mixture well as needed and use the mixture in your favorite dishes that require the use of olive oil.
You’ll find that there are quite a few things you can create with marijuana if you take the time to do your research. These possibilities in turn will allow you to end up with a group of products that you can use for a loved one who needs this oil for medical reasons.

Ooey Gooey Marijuana Caramel Recipe
Caramels are a sweet treat you can pop in your mouth on the go. They are the perfect way to boost your blood sugar levels. When they contain marijuana, they are also a great way to help you to experience the pain relief that marijuana can offer. It’s important that when you make this recipe that you never use high heat and that you remove the mixture from the heat as soon as it reaches 245 degrees Fahrenheit. Otherwise, you will lose the bulk of the benefit that comes with these candies.
Ingredients:
    1 cup marijuana butter
    2 cups brown sugar
    1 cup corn syrup
1 large can sweetened condensed milk
    ½ tablespoon vanilla

This is one of the simplest marijuana recipes you can make. However, it does need to be precise. First, melt your butter over low heat. When it has pooled, mix in the brown sugar and a dash of salt. Mix this until it is combined. When the brown sugar is part of the liquid, blend in your corn syrup and mix well. Now gradually increase the heat to medium and stir in the milk slowly. You’ll want to do even strokes so it is well blended. Keep doing this until your candy reaches 245 degrees Fahrenheit then remove it from the heat. To do this, you’ll need to have a special candy thermometer for an accurate reading.
As it cools, then blend in your vanilla and then pour it into a 9” x 13” pan. Allow this to cool at room temperature. You can then cut out the individual pieces of candy and wrap them. Think a standard size tootsie roll bites in terms of size, to help you maintain reasonable proportions with this candy. With a little effort on your part, you’ll find that you are able to master this and other marijuana recipes. Just remember that when you are dealing with higher heat levels, you do need to pay close attention to how hot the mixture is.
